Fat Freezing Bournemouth

Fat freezing, also known as cryolipolysis in Bournemouth

What is Fat Freezing?

Fat freezing, or cryolipolysis, is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure designed to reduce stubborn fat deposits by exposing fat cells to extremely cold temperatures. This causes the fat cells to crystallise and break down without damaging surrounding tissues. Over time, the body naturally eliminates these dead fat cells through the lymphatic system, gradually reducing fat in the treated area. The procedure involves placing a specialised cooling device on the targeted area, which triggers fat cell death through a process called apoptosis. Over the following weeks and months, the body processes and removes the destroyed cells, leading to visible fat reduction. The treatment is painless and does not require needles, surgery, or anaesthesia. It is particularly effective for areas such as the stomach, thighs, arms, and chin, with results typically becoming noticeable within four to twelve weeks. Each session lasts between 35 to 70 minutes, depending on the area being treated and the device used.

How Does Fat Freezing Eliminate Fat?

Fat freezing, or cryolipolysis, primarily targets fat cells rather than directly treating wrinkles. However, it can help reduce the appearance of wrinkles in certain areas, particularly those where localized fat deposits contribute to skin sagging or volume loss.

When fat freezing is applied to areas like the chin or lower face, it can reduce excess fat, leading to a more toned and contoured appearance. This may help the skin appear smoother and firmer, indirectly reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. While cryolipolysis isn’t specifically designed for wrinkle treatment, the tightening effect from the reduction of fat in these areas can result in skin that appears more youthful.

Why Fat freezing in Bournemouth?

Fat freezing, also known as cryolipolysis, is a non-invasive cosmetic treatment designed to reduce stubborn fat by exposing fat cells to controlled, extremely cold temperatures. This process causes the fat cells to freeze, crystallise, and eventually die off, with the body naturally eliminating them over time. It targets localised fat in areas that are often resistant to diet and exercise, such as the abdomen, thighs, flanks, and chin. Unlike traditional surgical fat reduction treatments, fat freezing is non-surgical, requires no downtime, and poses minimal risk.

The treatment is highly effective in contouring and reducing fat in specific areas, resulting in a smoother, more toned appearance. Since the fat cells are eliminated permanently, the results can be long-lasting, provided a stable weight is maintained. The procedure is comfortable, with no needles or incisions, and most people can return to their daily activities right after the session.

FAQ

Frequently Asked

Is Fat Freezing Cryolipolysis Treatment Painful?

Fat freezing, or cryolipolysis, is generally considered a comfortable procedure, though some individuals may experience mild discomfort during the treatment.

When the cooling device is applied to the targeted area, you may initially feel a cold sensation and some tingling as the fat cells begin to freeze. This is typically followed by a feeling of numbness as the area cools, which can last for the duration of the session. While the sensation can be intense at first, it usually subsides after a few minutes as the area becomes numb.

Most clients report that the procedure is tolerable and that they can relax or engage in other activities, such as reading or using their phone, during the treatment. After the session, the treated area might feel cold or firm, and you could experience some mild redness, swelling, or tenderness, but these side effects are temporary and generally resolve within a few hours to a few days.

At the Skin Health and Beauty Clinic in Bournemouth, under the expert care of our clinician Skarlet, we ensure that you are comfortable throughout the entire process. Skarlet’s extensive experience allows for a careful and skilled approach, helping to minimise any discomfort and ensure you feel at ease during the treatment.

How Long Does Fat Freezing Effect Last?

The effects of fat freezing, or cryolipolysis, are long-lasting, but they depend on a few factors, such as lifestyle and maintaining a stable weight. Once the fat cells are eliminated through the body’s natural processes, they do not regenerate. This means that the results can be permanent, and the reduced fat in the treated areas will not return.

However, it’s important to note that while the treated fat cells are gone, new fat cells can develop in the future if you gain weight. Therefore, to maintain the results, it’s essential to follow a healthy lifestyle, including a balanced diet and regular exercise.

Typically, visible results from fat freezing start to appear 3 to 4 weeks after the treatment, with the most noticeable changes occurring 2 to 3 months after the procedure. For some people, multiple sessions may be recommended for optimal results, especially for larger or more stubborn areas.

At the Skin Health and Beauty Clinic in Bournemouth, under the experienced care of clinician Skarlet, you can be confident that you’re receiving a tailored approach to achieve the best, long-lasting results. Skarlet will provide you with post-treatment guidance to ensure you maintain your desired outcome for as long as possible.

Will I Have Side Effect After Fat Freezing?

After fat freezing (cryolipolysis), most people experience minimal side effects, and these are typically temporary. However, it’s important to be aware of the potential reactions to ensure you know what to expect:

Redness: The treated area may appear red for a few hours after the procedure due to the cold exposure and the suction of the applicator. This is completely normal and should subside within a few hours.

Swelling: Mild swelling is common in the treated area. It generally resolves within a few days after the treatment.

Tenderness: The treated area may feel tender to the touch, and some people experience a feeling of firmness or sensitivity in the area for a few days to a week.

Bruising: Some individuals may experience mild bruising due to the suction mechanism of the device. This is typically short-lived and should fade within a week or two.

Numbness or Tingling: During the procedure, the treated area may become numb as the fat cells are frozen. Afterward, you may experience tingling or a feeling of numbness for a few hours to a few days.

Paradoxical Adipose Hyperplasia (PAH): In very rare cases, a small number of individuals may experience an unusual side effect called paradoxical adipose hyperplasia. This condition results in the thickening and expansion of the treated fat, rather than a reduction. It is an extremely rare occurrence and is not common in most patients.

These side effects are typically mild, temporary, and subside on their own. At the Skin Health and Beauty Clinic in Bournemouth, Skarlet, our experienced clinician, will ensure that you are fully informed about the procedure and any potential risks. She will also provide guidance on aftercare to help minimise any side effects and optimise your results. If you have any concerns post-treatment, our team is always available to support you.

How Long Does it Fat Freezing Treatment Takes?

Fat freezing (cryolipolysis) treatment typically takes between 35 to 70 minutes per session, depending on the size and area of the treatment. For smaller areas, such as the chin or flanks, the treatment may be on the shorter end of the spectrum. For larger areas like the abdomen or thighs, it may take closer to 70 minutes.

During this time, the cooling device is applied to the targeted area, and you will be able to relax while the fat cells are being exposed to the cold temperatures. Most people find the procedure comfortable enough to read, use their phone, or even nap.

If you are having multiple areas treated, additional time may be required, but typically, multiple sessions are spaced out over several weeks for optimal results.

At the Skin Health and Beauty Clinic in Bournemouth, Skarlet, our skilled clinician, will ensure the treatment is tailored to your needs and provide you with a comfortable, efficient experience.
